Paris here we come!

Today is the day! After much planning and dreaming we’re off to Europe to begin our ‘scrappy adventure’. The nerves and excitement have well and truly kicked in, a couple of glasses of wine last night helped settle the butterflies in my tummy and get a good nights sleep. Bundy has been checking out our luggage and seems to know that something is up, it is hard not to make a fuss of him but we want it to appear as though it is a normal working day when we leave the house. We know that the dogs will be well cared for in our absence which makes leaving a little bit easier.

Our first stop is Paris, I have to admit that I’m extremely nervous about the language and hope that the Parisians will be kind when I mangle ‘parlez vous anglais’. The hotel we are staying at is in the Latin Quarter, apparently popular with tourists and reasonably close to a number of sights that are on our ‘must-see’ list, not to mention a plethora of restaurants and cafes. The last time I was in Paris the staff at a number of museums and attractions were on strike, it meant missing the Louvre and the Musee d’Orsay and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it won’t be the case during this visit.

Our camera batteries are charged and we have about 40GB of memory cards plus a laptop for storing the thousands of photos we’ll take over the eight weeks. I am hopeful that I will be able to access the internet regularly in order to share my photos with my friends on this blog and on facebook, the aim is to update this blog once a week with photos and tales of our adventure.

Au Revoir!
