Recently I’ve been doing a bit of bird watching, we’ve had some beautiful sunny days and all sorts of feathered friends have made an appearance to dine on native wildflowers, breadcrumbs and grubs in the grass. While visiting family recently I had to sneak through doors and quietly navigate the yard to get some photos, many of the birds flew away before I could focus however others stuck around long enough for me to get a few shots. My Mum thought I was a little crazy wandering around the yard in my pyjamas and rubber boots 🙂

What an extraordinary “backyard” collection! I don’t think the birds cared at all that you were in your PJs. 🙂
It was very special to see so many different birds, I think that eventually got used to my PJs 🙂
Funny, almost every feathered friend is facing the same direction….I think they were eyeing the lady with the rubber boots! Your shots are beautiful, and I’m impressed with the wide variety of birds that visit your backyard.

You’re so right, I never noticed that when selecting the shots, it was either the pink rubber boots or the Dalmatian spotted PJs that got their attention :-). Most of the photos were taken at my Mum’s, but we are lucky enough to get a similar array of birds at our house.
I’m horrible at identifying birds so I don’t know what these are but they are really pretty!
Sorry Emily, I should have put the titles in captions so they were easy to identify. They are pretty birds, I especially love the parrots.
I thought those might be parrots… what were the black and white ones?
The black and white ones are Magpies and Butcherbirds, they have a beautiful warble which always makes me smile.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen either bird before, very cool, thanks for sharing them!
You’re most welcome, will have to stalk some other birds for more photos 🙂 Both types are quite common in Australia and the magpie can get very territorial during mating season and when they have little ones but I love them anyway.

I think I had better include captions on these 🙂 The pretty pink bird is a Galah, they can live very long lives and some people like to keep them as pets but I prefer seeing them wild.
Great pictures – I would have done the same thing to see these birds and get photos!
