Wattle in bloom

As a child I used to look forward to the wattle blooming, it meant that winter was almost over and longer, warmer days were on their way. This year, winter has been a mix of warm weather with a couple of cold snaps thrown in so it isn’t surprising that the bush around us is already glowing with golden, yellow wattle.

Beautiful picture, TwoBlackDoggies. I was also taking photos of wattle along my way to the car on my phone a few afternoons ago. I love this time of year. July is always identified in my mind as a little kid in primary school by the wattle bush beside the gate to our school playground all out in soft focus bloom. (It was one of the compact little bush wattle species with the round suede-like leaves though.)

Thanks Cherie 🙂 The wattle certainly blooms earlier in Queensland, but it could be the type of wattle rather than the time of year.

Thank you for sharing your photographs of wattle, yellow has always been my favorite color, which makes this plant seem all the more beautiful to me!

It looks glorious, Sam! How’s your planning coming on for that trip to Europe? Or have you been to busy with the renovations 🙂

Thanks Jo! We have finally booked flights and accommodation, the trip is getting closer and hoping that the renovations will all be done by mid-September 🙂
