Last week a beautifully wrapped and designed package arrived in the mail, doggie treats from Naomi and Rufio the cutie pie Pug at Treats A La Bark, a special surprise for two black doggies to sample before the official launch (today) of the Treats A La Bark range of organic dog biscuits.

Bundy and Maxi keenly sniffed and nudged at the parcel, they knew that something yum was inside and once I opened the packets and removed the Apple Pie biscuits and the Peanut Butter and Blueberry Barkscotti both dogs were drooling in anticipation. Sadly they had to wait while I took a few pictures and attempted to artfully arrange the packaging and the treats, not easy with household lighting and an iPhone but a professional photographer I am definitely not and product photography is not something that I am familiar with or passionate about. Anyway, enough about my camera skills and more about the treats.

I gave each of our pampered pooches an Apple Pie biscuit, they had been waiting so patiently near the kitchen and deserved a tasty treat. Bundy munched on his too fast for me to take a good shot but Maxi was the perfect model (this time) and managed to look extremely adorable (and a tad funny) as she gently took the Apple Pie biscuit from my husband. The treats were doled out over a few days and I had left the Barkscotti until last and was finally able to get a photo of Bundy enjoying his last few mouthfuls of the Peanut Butter and Blueberry Barkscotti, it was so good to see them enjoying their treats and if they are good to their mummy then there will be more to come 🙂

Last Friday was Take Your Dog to Work day, a fantastic initiative that celebrates the contribution that dogs make to us and society in general and also to encourage people to adopt from shelters and rescues. It is well known that having a pet can lower stress levels, blood pressure and improve activity levels so surely bringing them to work can assist with productivity and morale, providing you don’t have any dog haters in your office environment.

Dogs are not allowed in our workplace, for many reasons but the main one appears to be health and safety. To get around this I implemented a ‘Bring Your (Virtual) Pet to Work’ day and encouraged staff to bring in photos and fluffy toys that represented their pets and to decorate their office space as they saw fit. That day was today and it has been lots of fun, many of my colleagues are dog lovers so the majority of images and toys were dog related. We tied the event to a fund-raising morning tea for the Animal Welfare League Queensland, they rely heavily on donations of cash and goods from the general public and are always in need of old blankets, towels, pet food and kitty litter. I don’t know how much we have raised, the collection of donations has been extended to a week to give all of our work mates the chance to make a donation but every little bit helps. In the meantime everyone got the chance to eat cake, talk about their beloved fur-kids and contribute to a good cause – what a great day to end the week 🙂
