Only three more sleeps until Christmas, our decorations have been hung, the yard shines brightly thanks to hundreds of solar fairy lights and all the presents are wrapped and under the tree. The only thing left to do is the shopping for fresh food items so that a small, non-OTT feast for two can be prepared, not to mention finding something yummy for Maxi and Bundy to eat, brining the total number of creatures celebrating Christmas at our house to four (visiting wildlife does not count).
This year we decided to stay home and relax for the Christmas holidays, normally we load the car up and head south to spend the holidays with our extended families, it is wonderful fun and we enjoy spending time with family but this year we’re making it about us. 2013 has been a hell of a year, plenty of ups and downs and far too many sleepless night, time at home to rejuvenate our body and souls as well as do some work around the house, is exactly what we (especially me) need because I don’t think 2014 is going to be any less hectic. Christmas morning we’ll both head to the local animal shelter to help clean pens, feed and walk doggies that are unlucky enough to be in a shelter at Christmas and then it is home to our own dogs for a day of doing whatever we like, we may even take them to the beach for a swim and a stroll along the breakwall. What are you doing to celebrate Christmas this year?
To all of you wonderful people following, liking and reading my posts, Two Black Dogs and I would like to say a huge thank you and to wish you all a very Merry Christmas. May you and your families be happy, safe and enjoying life wherever you are.
A big thank you to Naomi and Rufio from Treats a la Bark, they have very kindly passed on the Kreativ Blogger Award. When I’m not looking at travel blogs and websites I’m loving dog focused blogs, Treats a la Bark blog is a recent find for me and one I am thoroughly enjoying 🙂
The rules for this award are:
1. Thank the person who nominated you and include a link back to their blog
2. Share 7 things about yourself
3. Pass the award to 7 nominees
7 things about me:
My husband and I were together for almost 16 years before we got married, we recently celebrated 20 years of ‘togetherness’ since first meeting.
If there is chocolate in the house I will find it and I will eat it…all. I cannot ‘save’ chocolate for later.
When Bundy, our staffy cross (and black dog #2), wants to go for a ride in the car and will not take no for an answer I sometimes take him for a ride around the block, he seems content then.
I love planning holidays, even if it is a couple of years in advance. I love reading guide books, checking out websites, gathering quotes for accommodation and borrowing art and architecture books from the library.
No matter how tired, cranky and upset I may be when I get home, seeing two black hairy noses sticking out from under the gate immediately puts a smile on my face and my concerns disappear.
My Nanna used to make the best rice pudding and baked custard, even now they are still two of my favourite desserts although I cannot make it exactly the same as she did. They were delicious with her home grown, cooked peaches.
I am dreading the day that my dear old Maxi (black dog #1) has to cross the rainbow bridge. Maxi is 11, has arthritis and cataracts and we’ve had her since she was a little puppy with long legs and huge floppy ears, she finally grew into those legs and ears.
Last, but not least, the 7 blogs that I want to award the Kreativ Blogger Award are:
Twenty-Six to Life – a fabulous blogs that is about dogs, love for dogs, photography and DIY projects. Kate is a very Kreativ person 🙂
restlessjo – a wonderful travel blog written by Jo, lots of wonderful photos from places I’ve never been but one day hope to visit.
Adventuress Abroad – Lindsay has been to so many places and has done some amazing things, her stories are open, honest and often make me smile.
This Sydney Life – Having lived in Sydney I love seeing the images TSL presents, they bring back many fond memories and also show me how much Sydney has changed. I’m always in awe of the things that she finds: amazing art, craft and fashion.
I Me Mine – Danielle’s blog is another new find for me and I’m loving it! Gorgeous and inspiring art, interior design and other beautiful, interesting things.
DutchGoesItalian – Letizia is always showing me new and beautiful destinations in Italy and I love Italy! One day I might actually try making one of the yummy recipes she shares.
Meg Travels – I’m pretty sure that Meg has been given this award before (several times even), but I enjoy her travel blog so much that I’m going to pass it on to her anyway.
Recently Two Black Dogs received a couple of blogging awards from the wonderful Meg Travels. Meg Travels is a thoughtful, positive and interesting blog and Meg always manages to pique my curiosity about destinations I hadn’t ever considered visiting, I find that we have alot in common and I am very grateful that she has nominated Two Black Dogs for the Sunshine Award and Genuine Blogger Award and I accept with pleasure. If you love travel, especially travel to Italy, please take some time to check out Meg Travels, as well as providing good stories and advice, Meg will be heading off to Italy on another trip soon.
The Sunshine Award does come with some requirements:
Link the award to the person who gave it to you.
Answer the questions that come with it.
Pass it along to 10 people and let them know they have received it.
The questions and my answers:
Favorite color: Blue
Favorite number: 3
Favorite Non-alcoholic drink: Coffee
Facebook or Twitter: Facebook, I struggled with Twitter before giving up in defeat
My Passion: Three great loves – travel, art and last but not least dogs
Favorite pattern: Fell in love with the intricate patterns painted on the interior of Neuschwanstein Castle
Favorite Day of the Week: Saturday because it means I have two whole days off and Sunday because I get to spend time walking and cuddling the dogs at our local shelter.
Favorite Flower: Roses
Now to nominate ten bloggers and because it is a great idea, I’m going to follow in Meg Travels’ footsteps and nominate all ten for both the Sunshine Award and the Genuine Blogger Award (which has no specific requirements). I’ve noticed a number of my favourite blogs have already been recipients of awards of late, regardless I am going to nominate them as well, why? Because they’re worth it!
This is my way of saying thank you for inspiring, teaching and entertaining me through your blogs. Whether you choose to accept either award or even pass them on is your choice, I’ll be notifying you of your award over the next few days. Congratulations and thank you once again for sharing and thank you Meg for thinking of Two Black Dogs 🙂
